Answer

Vintage fashion

The fashion industry has taken a new form and turn in the recent years after the introduction of innovations and inventions in the market making it one of the competitive sectors in the market today.  Fashion can be described as a popular trend and pattern in the way people dress in the form of dresses, trousers and even shoes. On other occasions, fashion goes a step further to include hairstyles, especially for ladies. As a result, fashion designers need to be always alert to know the trending and new version of what is in the market to ensure that they are at the top of the competition. Moreover, fashion designers should be ambitious to try new things and curiosity to want to know more about a particular fashion to make it better and attract more customers. This essay will attempt to show contemporary fashion has influenced by vintage fashion.

Surprisingly, of recent years, people especially the youths seem to favor vintage fashion. Vintage fashion style refers to a situation where individuals seem to favor clothing that imitates the previous era. However, these clothes are not in the form in which they were used in the previous era, but they are reproduced to bring a new product to the market (Cassidy, 2012). However, vintage clothing fashion is always expensive. On the other hand, contemporary clothing style is easily accessible and easily affordable and contains more modern styles than the vintage clothing.

Considering that vintage clothing contains a line of clothes that dates 20 years back and are unique in the current fashion industry, the clothes must be expensive. Most of the stores, mall, and shops selling the vintage clothes goes for high prices because they sell unique clothes that are not easy to find in the market and since individuals want to stand out among their peers, they are always willing to pay high prices just to acquire these pieces of clothes. Moreover, it is correct to say that vintage fashion designers and sellers try their luck in getting a maximum profit from their products.

The vintage fashion style is influencing the contemporary fashion clothing we see nowadays.  Most of the current and new styles that we see in the market today contain the aspect of the older styles made in the 70s which are refined to make a new cloth in the form of textile but still holds the vintage taste. For example, the introduction of midi-length skirts, angel wing sleeves, and maxi dresses are some of the designs that were introduced in the last two and a half decades but have resurfaced with new patterns, dyeing techniques, and solid textiles. This clearly shows that the vintage clothing influences the type and genre of designs and styles on the market today (McColl, 2013). Moreover, mixing and matching vintage clothes in one’s wardrobe is simpler and makes them shine among many since they are unique.

Despite that vintage and thrift may be closely related regarding clothing, there is still a slight difference.  Vintage is a design from the past that comes at a high price. On the other hand, thrift is a design from the past let us say a vintage that comes at a lower price. Usually, an individual can get an amazing piece of cloth from a thrift store at a better and a cheaper price than from a vintage store.
